New Font Steps!

We are proud to announce that we have installed a beautiful set of oak steps for our font, this will make baptism a far safer event for both the baby and the vicar! The steps were kindly made and donated by Stuart (left on picture), Michael (right on picture) and Edwin Sharp. The Sharp family have a long association with Freiston, and their grandfather famously rescued the great font cover from an ash heap when it was thrown away by Victorian builders. The Sharps were sextons and church wardens at St James in the late nineteenth / early twentieth century. The family are skilled carpenters and it was an absolute pleasure to watch the installation. Please see the slideshow to see the process.

We aim to have the steps formally dedicated at the forthcoming confirmation service.
